Joy and Grief Can Exist in the Same Breath
This season has been strange.
I’m grateful for what’s growing. I’m grateful for the classes, the retreat, the website, the people showing up, and the way Let Go & Breathe Yoga is slowly becoming what I always hoped it could be.
And I still wish my mom was here to see it.
That’s the hard part.
I can be proud and still feel sad. I can be excited and still miss her. I can see good things happening and still have moments where it hurts that she isn’t here for them.
Yoga has helped me understand that more.
It reminds me I don’t have to force myself to feel only one thing. I don’t have to rush through grief just because life is moving forward. I don’t have to pretend something doesn’t hurt just because I’m also thankful.
Both can be true.
Losing my mom changed me. It changed the way I see time, family, and what really matters. It also changed the way I teach. I know people walk into yoga carrying things no one else can see. Stress. Grief. Change. Exhaustion. Hope. All of it.
That’s why I care so much about creating a space where people can just breathe and be where they are.
Sometimes yoga is movement.
Sometimes it’s strength.
Sometimes it’s stillness.
Sometimes it’s just a place to fall apart a little and come back to yourself.
Right now, I’m learning that joy doesn’t erase grief.
Growth doesn’t mean you stop missing someone.
Gratitude doesn’t mean your heart isn’t still tender.
Both can be true.
Joy and grief can exist in the same breath.
