What Moana Reminded Me About Finding My Way Back to Myself
I went to see Moana this weekend in the coziest cobalt-blue lounge set because, let’s be honest, movie theaters are always freezing.
I expected a fun night.
What I didn’t expect was to leave with a reminder my heart needed.
As I watched the story unfold, I wasn’t thinking about an animated movie. I was thinking about us.
About women.
So many of us spend years answering to every voice except our own.
We become who everyone needs us to be.
The dependable one.
The caretaker.
The wife.
The mom.
The employee.
The friend who never says no.
Somewhere along the way, our own dreams get quieter. Our own needs get pushed to the bottom of the list. We convince ourselves we’ll get back to them “someday.”
Then one day, if we’re willing to be still long enough, we hear something.
A whisper.
A longing.
A feeling that says…
There is more waiting for you.
Not more success.
Not more accomplishments.
More you.
That has been my journey.
There have been seasons of grief, rebuilding, uncertainty, and learning to breathe again. Seasons where I questioned who I was underneath everyone else’s expectations.
Yoga didn’t magically fix my life.
But it gave me something incredibly valuable.
It taught me how to become quiet enough to hear my own heart again.
That’s why I named my business Let Go & Breathe.
Because healing isn’t about becoming a different woman.
It’s about letting go of everything that convinced you that you weren’t enough in the first place.
It’s about taking one deep breath.
One brave step.
One honest decision at a time.
Maybe that’s why this story touched me so deeply.
Not because it’s about adventure.
But because it’s about having the courage to trust the voice inside you, even when it’s scary.
Maybe you’re reading this today exhausted from carrying everyone else.
Maybe you’ve forgotten what brings you joy.
Maybe you’ve spent so long taking care of everyone around you that you don’t recognize the woman looking back in the mirror.
If that’s you…
This is your reminder.
You are allowed to choose yourself.
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to begin again.
You are allowed to follow the quiet voice that keeps whispering there’s something more.
Not because you’re lost.
But because you’re finally ready to come home to yourself.
And maybe that’s what “letting go and breathing” has always been about.

P.S. The cobalt-blue lounge set I wore to the movie was as comfortable as it was cute. I’ll link everything in my storefront for those who want the details.
