The Truth About Yoga

I love waking up to messages about yoga. I can totally geek out about it all day long.

I love learning, and yoga is one of those practices where there’s always something new to discover. I’ve learned where muscles are, what they’re called, how they function, and how understanding my body helps me know when I need to strengthen, stabilize, or gently mobilize something. It’s fascinating to me.

But the messages that make me smile the most usually start like this:

“I love watching your yoga stories, but I could never do yoga. I can’t get on the ground.”

“I’m not flexible enough.”

“I’m not very good at it.”

“My back hurts.”

Every time I read one of those messages, my first thought is…

You should absolutely be in my class.

Yoga isn’t something you begin because you’re already good at it. You don’t have to be flexible, strong, or know the names of the poses. You practice because you’re curious. You practice because your body needs care. You practice because life is hard sometimes, and you want to learn how to move through it with a little more strength, a little more peace, and a lot more compassion for yourself.

The truth is, yoga meets you exactly where you are. Every body is different. Every practice looks different. There are always options, modifications, and ways to make it work for your body.

You don’t have to earn your place on the mat. You just have to be willing to show up.

So let me ask you this…

What’s the one thing that’s been keeping you from trying yoga?
