One Day, Bali

One Day, Bali

I read Eat, Pray, Love before the movie ever came out, and Bali was the part I could not stop thinking about.

At the time, I was raising my girls. My days were busy, and traveling halfway around the world was not something I could realistically picture for myself. I was busy building a life, taking care of the people I loved, and doing what needed to be done.

But every now and then, I would think, “I’d still love to go to Bali someday.”

Then the movie came out, and I wanted to go even more. I wanted to see the rice terraces for myself. I wanted to sit somewhere quiet with a cup of coffee and watch the island wake up. I wanted to experience a place where tradition still seemed to matter and life did not appear to be rushed through.

Years later, yoga became such an important part of my life. That makes Bali mean something different to me now.

I do not think I need to go there to find myself. I have lived enough life to know that no place can do that work for you. But I would love to experience a culture where slowing down, community, and spiritual practice are part of everyday life.

I would not want to spend the whole trip checking things off a list. I would want to meet someone who calls Bali home and let them show me around.

Take me to the café you love. Show me where you go to watch the sunrise. Tell me about your family and the traditions you grew up with. Show me the places that matter to you, not just the places tourists are told to visit.

Maybe that is what I want most from travel now.

Not just to see a beautiful place, but to understand a little more about the people who live there.

I do not know when I will finally make it to Bali.

I just know I am not finished dreaming about it yet.

One day, Bali.

What is one place you have always wanted to visit, and what do you hope to experience when you finally get there?
